More than 2000 years ago, Hippocrates said, "all disease begins in the gut". It's becoming clear through new research that this may be true! The health of our gut and the bacteria inside have influences on everything from immunity to weight, leading to autoimmune conditions, inflammation, depression, and obesity. What we eat can have a profound effect on the health of our GI tract its probiotic colonies. The "SAD" way (standard American diet) is unfortunately altering probiotics and gut integrity which mirrors an increase in autoimmunity, obesity, IBS, heartburn, bloating, and a myriad of other GI complaints. In this class, we will show you how to eat to bring your gut and probiotics back into balance through the use of plant fibers, fermented foods, and healthy starches. In class we will build a giant dinner salad with prebiotics and probiotics that balance and support digestive function. We will also offer a new take on sausage and sauerkraut.
